Hoekstra is a verb

Hoekstra: v. to complain about your own situation by comparing it to a much much worse situation. To act like a hilariously whiny little bitch.

I wouldn't bet on this one catching on. It's less than a dozen hours old. But I love the story behind it.

U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, has a Twitter account. And apparently, when he learned of Twitter's role in the Iranian protests, he felt a certain bond with those who were organizing their stand against the oppressive theft of democracy. He felt a camaraderie with those who were putting their lives at risk for the sake of democracy.

Around noon today, he posted the following in solidarity:

    As I mentioned over on Monica's blog the other day, sometimes listening to politics on the radio makes me question the entire democratic-political project.

    But then I read those comments, and my faith is re-affirmed.

    Does it work the other way:

    "This business about Hoekstra is as fun as riding a roller coaster while snorting cocaine and getting a blowjob (from a girl with cocaine in her mouth) with a view of the Pacific ocean and the knowledge that you own a magnificent beach house just down the road."

    Or is it just for... the hyperbolically bad?

    By the way: you two are too easily satisfied with the democratic process.

    doesn't it seem that getting some joy from seeing the public ridicule of a stupid thought is quite a reasonable response?

    don't try too hard to prove you're a skeptic. you might unnecessarily miss some fine moments.

    So it would be an intransitive verb, right? We don't hoekstra something, we just hoekstra?

    "I hoekstraed nonstop until I was exhausted."

    It seems it would be better as a noun, as in, "Wow, I really threw a good hoekstra in today."

    Update on previous comment: Of course, given the trend in the development of English, it is likely that hoekstra will be both a noun and a verb.
